Game of Thrones' Kit Harington isn't too keen on the theory that Jon Snow is a prophesied prince

Game of Thrones fans love trying to predict where the show will go next. Trouble is, the showrunners and stars don't always agree. Case in point: there's this idea floating around that Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, is a prophesied prince who will lead the forces of the world against a tide of darkness. The show itself has even hinted at this in season 6, when Melisandre referred to Snow as "The Prince That Was Promised." But Harington warns fans not to get ahead of themselves.

"I think you have to wait and see what happens this year, and if we find out anything more about Jon," Harington recently told The Huffington Post. "I think Jon would hate the term 'The Prince That Was Promised.' If someone turned to him and said, 'You're The Prince That Was Promised,' he just wouldn't pay much attention. That's what I love about him, so I don't really care about it either. You know, I think that's what's great about him. He's got very little ego on him."

Of course, we've seen the reluctant hero trope before. Remember Neo from The Matrix? He was outright told he wasn't The One, and yet he went on to be the savior of two worlds in that trilogy. And heck, even Snow himself has never been eager to embrace titles - he's just a humble guy with a crazy family tree who happens to have been brought back from the dead. Who is he to claim to be a prophecy?
