Liev Schreiber teases Sabretooth's return in Wolverine 3

While many rumors about The Wolverine 3 are yet to be confirmed, it's been strongly hinted that the sequel is targeting an R-rating due to its source,Old Man Logan. The comic miniseries picks up with Logan fifty years in the future, enjoying a quiet life with his family and generally avoiding anything resembling a punch-up. But might one last scrap with an old foe still be on the cards?

It's not set in stone but we could see the return of Wolverine's former enemy Victor Creed aka Sabretooth. Liev Schreiber previously mentioned the Old Man Logan storyline and his potential involvement back in December, and at last night's Oscars he touched on the topic again. “We talked about it,” Schreiber told MTV, referring to conversations with Hugh Jackman. “I don’t know. He’s mentioned it to me. The Old Man Logan story - that’s appealing. That’s something that I can do. Old, being the operative word.”

As The Wolverine 3 is (allegedly) Jackman's final time playing the X-Man, having Schreiber back for one last tussle would be a great way to end that stint. Even though X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a bit of a disaster, watching the pair go at it (sabre) tooth and nail makes the mistreatment of Deadpool worth enduring.

Directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, The Wolverine 3 opens in the UK on March 2, 2017 and in the US a day later on March 3.
