If this isn't from the next Assassin's Creed game, what IS it?

Supposed non-Assassin's Creed 3 art of pyramid-backed assassin has us oh so confused

Ubisoft has posted some lush artwork on its twitter account while dropping vague hints about a “secret” project involving the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The picture shows off an assassin chilling out in front of the Great Pyramids. Judging from the scene – and the whole “sporting a severed head in one hand and what looks a hell of a lot like a larger version of the hidden blade all bloodied in the other” vibe – he appears to have just finished a job.

To make matters even screwier, an Ubisoft spokesperson told CVG that the image is from a “non-game related project.” We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this supposed spokesperson is actually an imposter who gagged and kidnapped the original spokesperson who was going to tell us that this is an Assassin’s Creed 3 image. Running around a historically accurate depiction of ancient Egypt would be, for lack of better words, utterly badass. If he isn’t, then “non-game related” could mean, what? A movie? A comic? An album cover for RZA?

What are your thoughts?

does ANYONE know what it is because i got AC:brotherhood collectors pack and it came with a envelope with this drawing and two others with Ezio.Also another envelope with a female assassin and a futeristic assassin.

It cannot be set before the thirteen hundreds, according to a ubisoft spokesperson. So Egypt in the Napoleonic era would fit, but probably suck. On the other hand, thinking back to ACII, wasn't there a statue of an ancient Egyptian assassin under Monterigioni. Also, remembering a GR speculation of ACIII, it was suggested that you may travel back to tiny parts of the lives of many of Desmond's ancestors. So I'm thinking fifteen minutes of Ancient Egypt. God I cannot wait to do a leap of faith from the Sphinx and assassinate Tutankhamen, possibly to retrieve a Piece of Eden in his possession... anyone else thinking staff?

Maybe it's a comic or graphic novel about the other Assassin's that saved the world. The ones that have the statues near Altair's armor in AC2.

This definitely looks to be a part of Assassins Creed seeing as the symbol right above the pyramid reads AC, plus all the other clues such as bird, dagger, style of armor. I'm personally praying to god its a video game but knowing that they got so far in the Desmond present storyline it would seem dumb to come up with a sequel. Instead this can be signs of a prequel to a time before Desmond was captured by the Templars. Could it be a little someone codenamed subject 16!? Shine a light on his story and maybe even a way to get to Desmond and help with the fight against the templars. All I know wether it be a game or comic book I'm super stoked just by all thoughts that come to mind with the possibility of a prequel leading into the future 2012 war against theTemplars.

From looking at the image it doesnt look like it'll be AC3. Nowhere on the picture is any symbol relating to the assasins or the templar which is located everywhere in all AC stuff so far (even bloodlines stuff). Also in all the clues, ie from AC1 and AC2 everything points at either Japan or a Mayan/Aztec setting. So my guess for this is either a novel or a graphic novel.

that giant red sun in the background could be a referance to the japanese flag, and also i dont think they have bald eagles in egypt, they only (according to wikipedia)live in north america, suggesting there might be something there. Then again i could be entirely wrong, who knows.

So, next AC Brotherhood takes place in Rome, surely to finish up what they started in AC2. Great! As for an AC3, I would've thought that the game would take place ENTIRELY in Desmond Miles present period, which in fact would make complete sense. As for that concept art picture, one can only guess and perhaps even hope that it'll be related to something AC. How about a parallel story? A new protagonist? Maybe add a few appearances/cameos of Altair and even Ezio? One thing for sure though, Ubisoft definitely have our attention on this!

An Assassin's Creed in Egypt would be awesome, but what the hell is Ubisoft going to put between all that desert? Also, a female assassin would be pretty cool too. A nice new touch to the series if it happens.
