GameStop announces vague CoD: Modern Warfare 3 pre-order bonus

The game has hardly been announced, but leaky faucets and antsy retailers are all over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, or, as GameStop refers to it, "the upcoming installment in the biggest action video game series of all time."

Today, the eager retailer verified already-verified reports that it will be offering a free poster with pre-orders, and added a bit of mystery to the announcement.

"You have to wait until this fall to play the game, but if you want this bonus, you have to pre-order now," reads GameStop's statement. "Only the first 500,000 fans that pre-order at GameStop will get exclusive information embedded in a two-sided Modern Warfare 3 poster."

Regular posters are just OK, but GameStop has posters which contain exclusive embedded information?! INFORMATION?! I love information! I'll overuse italic type for information! So what kind of information?! Visual information?! I think I see some of that! There's text too! Oh, or is it just the other side of the poster, which leaked the other day? Well, that's cool and stuff. I mean, it is information and all, so I guess it's cool.

Tangentially-related update: The first MW3 gameplay footage will debut in a trailer airing this Monday during the NBA Western Conference Finals. If you don't feel like watching basketball, or can't, follow Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling for the link. We'll probably write something about it, too.

I got the poster from gamestop and then switched my pre-order money over to Assassin's Creed: Revelations cause I think MW3 will fail. In the end I get an exclusive MW3 poster and an exclusive AC:R poster :) lol

Yeah, I did the same thing as Yingsin. I thought the poster looked pretty cool so I put in a preorder. Even if I don't end up picking the game up, the poster was worth $5.

Couldn't someone who pre-orders the game just post a picture of the poster online? Doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of mystery? Silly

lol@ 6 month pre-orders..why not just pre-order the next 5 years of COD?? We all know there will be a COD every year in November, so let's pre-pay now!! Hey , I might buy a house in 2013, I think I'll pre-order it:)

I am sure that is not the only pre order bonus Game Stop will offer. It is kinda of a teaser pre pre order bonus. As you all know there will probably be codes of some type offered when it gets closer to the release date and such. As of not there is only one option to choose from the basic $59.99 edition, which you all know will not be the ONLY version available. Those choosing to upgrade to the others when they are available will be able to do so as always.

@soren7550 I say 'leaked' because GameStop corporate is clearly acting as if it's a secret.

As an employee of LARGE GAMING CORPORATION, I wish i didn't have to give a shit. At least they get me copies of Muppet's Party Cruise for tha tdards!

I thought Tyler had a firm stance of don't give a shit.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's the poster that was 'leaked' (saying it was leaked is a bit odd, since the GameStop by me had the poster right up on their front door).
