First Batman: Arkham City in-game screens are simply staggering

The first 20 in-game screens of Batman: Arkham City have appeared (via a Flickr account we'll put very real dollar-pounds on belonging to a Rocksteady developer), and they are simply stunning. Catwoman. Two-face. The new-look Harley. New combat moves. Possibly the greatest ever depiction of Gotham City itself. You'll find them all within these two pages. So scroll down right now and start geeking out with us. Hurry up, you're already wasting time.

The line down Two-Face's face is too clean. I think it should be at least a little jagged. Plus, this game is gonna PWN.

@The_Tingler I didn't even see the tattoo there, so yeah, you win on that one. I wasn't a huge fan of Harley's outfit in Arkham Asylum either, and I actually think the outfit in this is an improvement; it reminds me of the classic jester outfit. What I'm worried about is her personality. Notice how in both screenshots she isn't smiling at all, she has this "serious as death" attitude on her face. She needs her happy-psychotic personality back, it's what makes her Harley. Also, I think she would looks loads better if one of the eye shadows was red instead of black, since almost everything else follows the whole black-red mismatch thing.

The first Picture: Batman deleting friend requests on Facebook The second Picture: If there could be a louder, more horrified method of saying "oh shit... The first picture on the second page: Batman leaps from YET ANOTHER exploding tower with what looks like a slightly bored expression on his face. For him, this kind of thing is TEDIOUS.

Did anyone else immediately think of Dr. Roxzo the Rock and Roll Clown when seeing the second picture?

The sixth and seventh pictures are unbeliavable. Before this moment, I've only heard rumours about this type of emotion. O_O

NICE. Lovin' the new Harley Quinn, and it's nice to see the bad guys have more variety of character models! Can't wait! :)

It looks like a massacre of juggalos. Awesome!
  • Hexateuch - September 2, 2010 7:41 p.m.

I want pilotwings style side missions where you have to land on a certain goon from whatever bats came from in that last screen.

@HalfBlindRatt Gee.. To come out of nowhere with all those facts despite that nobody asked or said anything you still think that it says 120mm? And that it only made a tiny hole in a window? Haha for stating all those facts you don't seem as bright as you are no offense. Or if you were ironic i didnt get it xD

@colosseyed Read a comic, best cat-women and two face yet! Harley quinn does look very trashy and looks more like she belongs on the corner of a GTA game. @halfblindRatt I couldn't tell or not but i think the bullet size is 1.20mm not 120mm which would be insane! haha

I am of two minds on this, on the only issue that matters: Harley Quinn (give me a break, guys. Literally nothing else in the game matters). She looks decent in the new look, but she was so perfect before. I have no problem with a character evolving a little bit, but this look does tend to take away from some of the same psychosis that he had before. Or at the least, it now implies it rather than states explicitly. The only real saving grace in this regard is the ends of her hair being colored. I can do without the tattoos though. They just look trashy and Harley isn't trashy. As for Catwoman, she is perfect. She looks like Lee Meriwether, which was the best looking catwoman ever. But fuck multiplayer/co-op.

No one else noticed that "the world's best detective" just analyzed a 120 mm "bullet" to come from a sniper? Jeesh.. Every gun nut will want to get their hands on that.. 12 cm wide bullet? That's like a fist coming at you, fit's a batman game perfectly x) Anyway, dont say Barret, thats 0.50 cal aka 12.7 mm, and there is a BIG difference there boys.. This is a 120 mm gun: http://www.antiaircraft.org/aaimages/120mm.jpg 120 is also used in M1 Abrams, so maybe Joker stole that? And drove it up a skyscraper to "snipe" at B-man? Who knows?
  • The_Tingler - September 2, 2010 4:33 a.m.

@ThatGuyFromTV/Engage183: Have you looked at her tattoos more closely? I do agree with Catwoman though. It seems really odd that they'd go for the Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe version with the very exposed cleavage than the normal comic version. The tight suit is sexy enough, the open top is both impractical and unnecessary. Otherwise, loving all of this.
  • Engage183 - September 2, 2010 4:30 a.m.

Wow, looks like rocksteady is putting a lot of detail in Arkham city, which is no shocker i also agree with ThatGuyFromTV's comment though, Harley looks a little more emo than joker fanatic, but we'll have to see how it plays out
