Extinction trailer shows Call of Duty: Ghosts' new horde mode

Call of Duty: Ghosts' new four-player horde mode was officially announced over the weekend, after screenshots of Extinction surfaced online. Now Activision and Infinity Ward have released an official trailer, giving us our first look at the bug hunt in motion.

Extinction should be fairly familiar to fans of Treyarch's Zombies mode, with a few twists: its agile enemies can bear down from unexpected places, and its four unique classes can be leveled up to improve their unique fighting and defending abilities.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will launch on Nov. 5 on PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360, and at launch on PS4 and Xbox One.

So the Battlefield series that could never get any respect is proving to be ultra realistic and Call of Duty is slipping into the fantasy realm... Who woulda thunk...

Probably the one thing about this game that has grabbed my attention. I still won't buy the game, but I will definitely try this mode out at a friend's house once I get a chance. Seems like it could be fun.

Speaking as someone who follows every Call of Duty release by watching the trailers and never actually playing a game (competitive FPS MP is not my cup of tea), this is the first thing I've seen out of Activision that has piqued my interest. Four player co-op horde mode with customizable classes and abilities? I'm glad ME3 proved the profitability of that model last year, and this might be my first ever CoD purchase.

Remember when Call of Duty aimed to be a realistic war shooter.. what the hell happened?

Battlefield 3 happened. It made Activision realize that their terrible, decade old engine and abysmal annual releases couldn't compete in terms of being a realistic war shooter, so now they have to resort to annualizing zombies and other strange modes such as this.

Being ActiBlizzion, what stops the from calling it "Zerg Rush Mode" and seal the deal?

Hmmm... Call of Duty: Ghosts is actually the thought-to-be-cancelled Starcraft: Ghost.

I would excitedly spend $60 for a next gen StarCraft Ghost, if I get that and a new Powerstone game my life as a gamer is complete.
