EA now hiring for unnamed Army of Two title

A trio of online job ads at EA has outed the publisher's plans to develop a new Army of Two game out of its internal Dead Space 2 studio, Visceral Games.

The postings call on applications for the positions of Senior Producer, Associate Art Director and Lead Environmental Artist for work on the 'Army of Two franchise'. They also specifically ask for those with experience in developing and shipping AAA titles, lending weight to the theory EA has eyes on a full-on sequel rather than a downloadable title or mobile spin-off.

Focusing heavily on two-player co-operative gameplay, the series follows mercenaries Salem and Rios as they tag-team their way through politically charged missions all over the globe. We enjoyed the original as well as its 2010 sequel, but a third game was never 100% guaranteed. EA has declined making an official announcement, and seeing as it's just started the recruitment process now, we're unlikely to hear any mention of Salem or Rios at E3 2011.

As for the sequel's titles, we suggest: Army of Two and a Half Men, or Army of Two: Third 41st day. Unless you can think of something better...

Non-canon ending, DeathReunited. Looking forward to this as much as I'm looking forward... something crappy.

*Spoilers* How can you have a sequel to a game where one of the protagonists is dead?

AO2 and it's sequel have given me and my friend our coop shooting fix, but the two games feal a bit bland and generic. I have little interest in the characters and story, and the shooting mechanics although done well, feel stagnant (due to too many fps game on the market?) I think they need to mix things up a bit for the next outing. Give us a story that will suck me in and a villain who I want to take down. The varied enemies in the 40th day were great, guys with riot shields, badass guys with weak spots however take this to a whole new level. Get us taking on tanks and boss fights, and bring back the (limited) driving sections from the first game. Finally the coop mechanics are pretty good but flesh this out much more so things are varied. Even though you destroyed shanghai? the 40th day never felt epic. EA, give army of 2 some mojo! /endrant
