E3 2011: Dark Souls set to shatter your sense of self worth in October

The games industry has spoiled us. For years, we’ve had our hands held through interactive tutorials, bracing us for mildly challenging playthroughs on the ‘normal’ difficultly level. That’s why we loved 2009's Demon’s Souls, an action RPG that brought back the brutal boss battles and killer levels that demanded nothing less than perfection – and that’s why we’re excited about Dark Souls, the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, which is now scheduled to release on October 4 in North America and on October 7 in Europe. We’ve also got a brand new E3 trailer to tease the game that will likely serve you extra helpings of humble pie when it releases later this year.

Demon's Souls is one of the best game this gen in my opinion and this looks to be a more than worthy successor. Can't wait!

Demon's Souls is still one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. And I truly feel sorry for anyone who has never had the joy of experiencing it. In all honesty it is not that difficult, but it does demand perfection indeed. Anytime you die is always your own fault, it is not glitchy, it is not broken, it is never unfair. Just a pure test of skill and your ability to learn/create a strategy for every single type of enemy and boss.

If this is 360, I gotta rejoice; I really wanted to play demon's souls but I don't own a PS3

Prepare to die, awesome. My wife's going to be very upset with this and Skyrim coming out within a month of each other.

Even though I never finished Demon's Souls during the short week I had it, I did very much enjoy it. Definitely gonna make sure I get my hands on this one.

I might as well just send From Software my money right now, truly cannot wait for this. If you held a gun to my head and said Skyrim or Dark Souls, pick now! I...would have to pick Dark Souls.
