Deep Down is set in New York 2094

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has revealed fresh details about Deep Down, the new IP first revealed for PS4 in February. The online RPG is set in New York in 2094, but seemingly transports players into the past via memories to battle creepy monsters and dragons in underground caves, adding an Assassin’s Creed-like element to the title’s previously revealed Dark Souls vibe.

In a presentation today during a Japanese PlayStation conference, Ono said Sony engineers are working with Capcom on the PS4 exclusive, which is being built with the Street Fighter publisher’s next-gen Panta Rhei engine. The game will feature randomly generated dungeons, monsters and loot.

The first Deep Down trailer featured a band of medieval journeymen - which seemed to be comprised of the classic holy trinity of knight, archer, and monk/healer – exploring an underground environment before being set upon by a large fire-breathing dragon. Capcom intends to reveal more details about the title at Tokyo Game Show 2013 later this month.

So from what I understand from this its in the future and you are playing a memory. that is weak.

I was already getting really interested in this but then that gameplay! It was like Dark Souls third person, but then it had a more accurate aiming like over the should TPS aiming for precise lance stabbing. So you can have the usual timing your attacks based gameplay but then also mix it up by either requiring certain enemy parts be targeted like a shooter. Looks like a lot of fun.

The future? Neat Games starring in New York, with movies and such having done the same, you have people saying they are doing this too much but i say nay, we need more, especially since we always get the main Manhattan Big apple while im over here in Brooklyn looking like a scrub >_>

The footage shown so far looks pretty sweet! I'm alright with it being set in the future peering down the past as long as they are upfront about it, (Unlike the first Assassin's Creed...) however, this being apparently so online focused really dampens my enthusiasm for it. Definitely want to hear more about it though ^^
