Dead Space on PSP2 would be a brand new game

We're not saying Dead Space is coming to Sony's Next Generation Portable (aka PSP2), but if it did, it wouldn't be a port. It would be a brand new entry in the series...

Visceral, developer of the Dead Space games, didn't dismiss the idea of an NGP Dead Space title. In fact, the company's art director Ian Milham told CVG, "I'm absolutely interested in bringing Dead Space 2 to other platforms in the future."

"What's key to us though is that we don't do ports. We don't do shabby conversions onto whatever platform it may be," he added.

For example, when bringing the game to the Wii, Visceral created a brand new game. Dead Space Extraction played "to the Wii's strengths," said Milham.

To reiterate, he added, referring to the NGP or other future platforms, "I'd be into it but I'd want to do something that plays to that platforms strengths rather than just a feeble version of a port."

I'm afraid they already made one for the iPhone, but to honest, I wouldn't be suprised if they made another for the PSP2.

Okay, I didn't mean that extraction looked bad, but it was an on-rails shooter. I just want something that looks like extraction, but isn't confined to a set path.

It's never bad news hearing about a new Dead Space game...unless you count Ignition. Ignition was awful!

OK, first of all, 'Extraction' was a good game and it looked fantastic. What on earth is bobbybroccoli on about? As for Visceral creating console specific games rather than ports - that's just fine. I would rather play the original than a rubbish port. Also, brand new games on other platforms will encourage fans to buy both the core game and the portable version.

Please. I want a wii version. Just make it look better than extraction.

I mean to anyone thinking it would just be Dead Space on a portable. Which is okay, but it sounds like they're more interested in a game that's actually meant for portable systems rather than just a console game on a smaller screen.

I've played Dead Space on PC, as long as Vsync was off the responsiveness was fine, and then I just found the config file and manually increased the mouse sensitivity. As nice as it would be if they pulled off a proper Dead Space game, the NGP is just going to end up the same as the PSP if developers go down this route again.

"We don't do shabby conversions onto whatever platform it may be." Uhhhhhh....what about Dead Space Extraction? It wasn't so bad as a game, but it was a pretty cruddy port.

Do want. I'm prolly getting the NGP just in the hopes that this comes out now.

Except that time the first game came out on PC and the controls were a bit like being drunk underwater... I'll put that one on EA as a publisher though. Visceral has my support after absolutely blowing me away with Dead Space 2. If I can afford a PSP2 you can be sure I'll be looking for Dead Space goodness on it.
