We’ve been playing the heck out of the closed beta for DC Universe Online – and we’re pretty impressed with it so far. Soaring over the skyline of Metropolis and blazing through the streets of Gotham is great. But the combat also feels surprisingly kinetic. Part of why action in DCUO feels different has to do with the game’s physics engine. It doesn’t just affect the combos and combat; it also helps the game’s world feel more immersive with lots of ways to interact with the game’s environments. There are always objects to use, smash, or throw as you quest with your custom hero or villain. Check out the following developer diary featuring director Chris Cao for a closer look at how physics and fighting work together in DC Universe Online.

Expect more updates on the DC Universe Online beta as we continue power leveling our custom hero.
