Cliff Bleszinski hints at more Gears of War at VGAs

Later tonight Cliff Bleszinski will announce a new franchise for Epic Games, but on the Spike VGA online preshow, he had a chance to answer questions about his games in general. When asked by the nice looking hosts of the stream about the future of Gears of War after the conclusion of the 360-exclusive trilogy. Though Cliff was mostly evasive, he admitted that Gears is probably far from over.

After talking up the soon to launch Raam’s Shadow DLC, Cliff had more to say about the future. “If a game does well it makes sense to make more,” saying it’s likely you haven’t seen the last of the franchise. When pressed on Epic’s soon to be revealed new title, he dismissed leading questions that it would be the return of Jazz Jackrabbit, but he did surprise us with one hint for the game. Cliff said it’s style wouldn’t be “space marine, dude bro,” which would be quite a change indeed for the developer.

I like Gears of War enough, but I'd really rather see them tackle something new. Give the series a few years off, and then come back to it with some truly fresh ideas.

Im all for more gears halos and other sequals but we really need a bigger gap between them one every year is stupid or even every 2. Look at Half life i know at this stage waitin for HL 3 or episode 3 is getting a bit long but it will be so much more appreciated when it does happen. Gta games are the same a bit of time off makes them so much more special when the do arrive.

Glad to see hard-nosed journalism still exists. All these posers whining about Megaman, but NOONE giving two thoughts about Jazz. I salute you, gentleman.

My very soul is turning a distinct shade of brown from these games, Cliff needs to know when to stop. On the other hand, I hope he isn't lying through his teeth when he says the next game won't be "dude, bro".

Are Video games the new Cheesy Horror Film? It seems nowadays that EVERY developer that does a series well HAS to try and base a franchise of it. Gears of War is the new Elm Street, Halo the new Friday the 13th, Call of Duty the new Halloween. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Gears of War, and cheesy horror films, but sometimes, you've just got to know when to stop. gears 3 wasn't as good as Gears 2, and that was the 'epic conclusion' to the story. Don't let it get to be the way of Freddy Vs. Jason. Just leave it for a while, then, in 10 years, come back and do an Army of Darkness. And Sign Bruce Campbell on to do ALL of the voices. I'd take him over Nolan North ANY day.

"Gears of Halo Duty; Modern Combat Evolved Triple" To be honest, I kinda want this Freddy vs Jason thing to happen, just to see the clusterfuck of fanboyism it will spawn

Master Chief's ship crashlands on Sera. Boom, Freddy vs. Jason. You're welcome, Microsoft.
