Despite the fact that the last time they worked together produced the less-than-thrilling S1m0ne, Al Pacino and writer/director Andrew Niccol are teaming back up to make Dali & I: The Surreal Story.
And while Pacino has naturally snagged the Dali role, the pair has now tracked down an “I”. Cillian Murphy will be joining the cast as a young art dealer named Stan Lauryssens, who Dali mentors.
The plot of the film will follow the 1960s until the 1980s, the time when he’d produced all of his masterpieces and mostly spent his time being flamboyant. No, can’t imagine why Pacino would want that role…
Niccol rewrote the original script, which John Salvati adapted from Lauryssens’ autobiographical book – and he’ll direct it in New York early next year.
