Call of Duty creative strategist unveils new children’s book

As the creative strategist for Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling is often regarded as the face of the Call of Duty franchise. But Bowling recently took a break from his duties at Infinity Ward this past holiday to pen a children’s book called “LOOK!”

Inspired by one of his daughter’s very first words, “LOOK!” is all about improving vocabulary and celebrating childrens' curiosity. “She’d exclaim loudly and point feverishly out into the distance; an action that would always prompt us to look in the direction and seemingly see nothing but the obvious – the dog, a duck, a bird,” explained Bowling as he recalled his daughter’s excitement when she first said, “Look!”

But “LOOK!” isn’t just about improving childrens' word banks. For Bowling, it’s also about capturing those magical moments of discovery before learning becomes a chore. “It was that moment, that memory of our children when they’re young, the insatiable wonder, the excitement of discovering something new, and the possibility that maybe there is more than we even realize, that inspired me to create ‘LOOK!’ the book,” says Bowlilng.

Bowling’s words frame illustrations by Len Peralta, most famous for his work featured on the always awesome Geek-A-Week trading card site. Peralta has also done illustrations for other children’s books, such as “Silly Rhymes for Belligerent Children” by Trace Beaulieu (Mystery Science Theater 3000/Cinematic Titanic). You can find out more about LOOK! on the book’s official website. LOOK! will be published on March 1, 2011.
