Borderlands 2 pre-orders are second only to GTA in 2K history

In an earnings call today, 2K Games announced that Borderlands 2 is already raking in some serious cash. Specifically, they announced that it has become the third most highly preordered game in their history behind only GTAIV and GTA: San Andreas.

That places it above some seriously high-profile games like Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, LA Noire, Bioshock, and Civilization V. We knew that Borderlands made an impression when it debuted in 2009, but clearly this has become a marquis series that can sell with the best of them in the holiday season.

The outlook was not so rosy for some other Take 2 properties though. Both Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops: The Line were cited as having sales numbers that were not up to their expectations.

Though in Max Payne 3's case, those expectations were pretty lofty given that it sold over three million copies. They also mentioned that some titles from the backlog like Red Dead Redemption have continued to sell well years after their release.

In my own opinion only, this is the game Diablo 3 should have been! It has 4 player co-op, offline and LAN support for PC gaming especially. Most of all it is fun and has a cast that is just really memorable in their own way! Who doesn't like Claptrap!! Gearsoft have gone to lengths most other companies only promise and fail to deliver, they deserve this!

I can only imagine how much higher said sales would be if they hadn't screwed the pooch with the number of limited editions available...c'mon 2K, give us another print run!

What do you expect, I only recently got Bordrlands GOTY Edition, and in 2 months time ive become addicted to the game. Its the lore of Pandora, combined with the humor of "Badass" and "Midget" enemies all while giving us unforgettable characters like Dr.Ned, CL4P-TP (Or his locally designated name -Claptrap) that make people give the game a cult-like following. Also it's just plain fun to shoot people in the face and explore some s#!t with your buddies.
