Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel coming March 26 in N. America, March 29 in Europe

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is shipping March 26, 2013 in North America and March 29 in Europe, Electronic Arts announced yesterday. The reboot of the co-operative FPS series will land on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with the now-standard special edition features for pre-order customers.

Dead Space developer Visceral games will reboot the over-the-top series with new characters Alpha and Bravo in a war against a Mexican drug cartel. The Devil's Cartel runs on the Frostbite 2 engine, which is showing up in just about every EA property since its debut in Battlefield 3 from Need for Speed: Most Wanted to the next Command & Conquer.

The reboot retains series staples like deep co-op integration and customization, but couches them in a "setting that is more serious in order to dial up the intensity,” Visceral Games executive producer Julian Beak said.

Players who nab the game early will receive an Overkill Edition, with access to three additional "contract" missions, and new tactical as well as Day of the Dead-inspired gear.

I thought Army of Two was a 3rd person shooter. I'm not sure that going for a more serious tone is what the series really needed. From what I understand the first 2 were a tad more light hearted in their murdering (that sounds bad), but with Visceral it looks like we're going to get another brown shooter.
