Animal Crossing: New Leaf sets day-one eShop sales record

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds confirmed for November in Americas

Animal Crossing: New Leaf set a new record for day-one eShop sales upon its June 9 release in the U.S. Nintendo announced the successful debut in an E3 analyst briefing earlier this week

Sales for 3DS hardware were almost four times greater than the previous week. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata noted that, as players tend to keep up with Animal Crossing games over a long period of time, the success of New Leaf should keep 3DS consoles in many pockets, purses, and backpacks for months to come.

Nintendo also confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will launch on 3DS in November in the Americas and "toward the end of this year" in Europe, and that it still has many unannounced game titles to add to its first-party lineup.

Nintendo's presentation stated that 3DS represented 32 percent of the worldwide hardware market share as of April 2013, up from 29 percent from January to March. Iwata attributed much of this growth to the release of titles like Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity in late March.
