Winnie The Pooh review

Winnie's move to the big screen is a faithful if less charming adaptation

While closer to the spirit of A.A. Milne than some of Disney’s other recent knock-offs, this well-meant attempt at emulating the charm of the Mouse House’s ’60s excursions into the Hundred Acre Wood still falls short.

The songs are bland, and the quest to locate Eeyore’s tail and a mysterious monster struggles to fill a film even of this limited duration.

Missing most, though, is the exquisite sadness of a childhood over too soon, replaced here by a troubling sense of arrested adolescence.

Guess you can’t go back, even if your name is Christopher Robin.
