William Hurt talks reprising Thadeus Ross for Civil War

Alongside the smattering of Avengers set to pop up in Captain America: Civil War, we will also be treated to an appearance by William Hurt’s General Thadeus Ross, last seen in The Incredible Hulk. However, according to Hurt, the character will be very different this time out…

“I loved playing Ross the first time because I was able to try and create an ego as big as the monster he was chasing,” says Hurt to IGN. “And one that was as warped too. [Ross in Civil War] is different because it’s a different style. It’s a more modernized style.”

“What they’ve done is they’ve taken a character who was the Ross from the older film and made a new version. This is a much newer Ross. A much different Ross. And I liked that a lot. I haven’t had a lot of time to understand it, but I’m doing the best I can. And they haven’t fired me yet.”

It’s difficult for even the most dedicated Marvel aficionado to keep abreast of all the various interlinking storylines, so no wonder Hurt is struggling. Still, it will be nice to see him back, particularly if his presence is an indicator that a Hulk movie is coming further down the track. Captain America: Civil War will open in the UK on 29 April 2016 and the US on 6 May 2016.
