US-developed Silent Hill 5 this year?
Simultaneous release on PS3, 360 rumored for this year
The long-awaited next-gen debut of Silent Hill 5 is rumored to launch this year for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
According to the rumor section of the latest issue EGM, Konami is prepping Silent Hill 5 for a release this year and it looks like the game will be released on both PS3 and 360. But that's only if the rumors turn out to be true.
Not only that, but the mag suggests that development of Silent Hill 5 will be handled by Konami in the US rather than Japan. You may recall reports from last monththat Akira Yamaoka (producer of Silent Hill 2 on PC) was working on the new game. He said "At the moment I cannot reveal much detail on the story, or our progress, but I can tell you that this game will resemble Silent Hill 2 in the terms of the way the player is directed and the characters' behavior."
Konami hasn't announced anything specific on a new Silent Hill title and was unable to comment on the rumors when contacted. Stay tuned.
