Top 7... Worst celebrity voiceovers

The Game: The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning (Xbox, PS2, GC)
The Star: David Spade as Sparx

Maybe mythical dragonflies like to “hang ten” on “totally awesome” waves when they’re not looking for someone to save their forest. Maybe that’s why David Spade sounds like he just finished watching Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure five times in a row when he did the voice for Sparx the dragonfly in The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. If that’s not it, then we’re at a loss for reasons to explain Spade’s insufferable surfer dude sound.

Gratuitous uses of the word “dude” and the inconsistent way that Spade oscillates between overly giddy and utterly bored will make you happy that you can skip the game’s cutscenes at will. The king of comeback zingers occasionally fires off a satisfactory quip here and there. But for the most part, the canned one-liners in the script fails to give Spade any worthwhile material to shine.
