While Battlefield 1 will no doubt be full of fiery conflict, there's one fight that anyone interested in the Collector's Edition of the game can thankfully avoid: the console wars. The $130 Amazon-exclusive edition comes with plenty of swag, memorabilia, and digital content … but no copy of the game, physical or digital.
While at first that sounds like a bad deal, I'd actually say it's a rather good one. Without a copy of the game restricting these boxes to one system or the other, they should sell much easier. No copy of the game also means you can shop around; if you've got a store membership that takes a percentage off or gives you reward points, you can get the game from that store and the Collector's Edition from Amazon.
This version is also good for anyone who doesn't want a physical copy hanging around the house, or just plain likes statues and swag based on video games - even if they don't actually play the games.
Note that this version is different from the Battlefield 1 Deluxe Collector's Edition (that's right, there's two editions of an edition), which we detailed back in May. The Deluxe version comes with everything that the standard Collector's Edition does, as well as an "Early Enlister Deluxe Edition" of the game. So if you still want the whole kit-n-kaboodle in one shipment/box, you can do that. It's all about choice.
