She knows kung fu. No, really. Star Wars: Rogue One's Felicity Jones has revealed that Jyn Erso clearly knows how to fight like a pro as the actress had to undergo daily martial art lessons.
"I've never done this level of physical preparation for something. Particularly for Rogue One where I was training every day and doing kung fu rehearsals on a daily basis," she explains in an interview in the new issue of Total Film magazine. "But that's part of the reason I wanted to do it, because it was very different from what I've done before."
Jones also reveals that Rogue One director Gareth Edwards' film making style will bring a new feel to the Star Wars universe. "Gareth often holds the camera himself, and he will watch the scene and change camera positions, depending on what we're doing as actors," she says. "We would often shoot in a 360-degree set. There would be supporting artists everywhere, moving around. You wouldn't know where people were going to be. It was very much trying to find a documentary style within the framework of Star Wars."
