New Super Mario Bros. Wii breaks Japanese sales record

New Super Mario Bros. Wii has become the first Wii game to crack 4 million sales in Japan. Enterbrain revealed in this week's issue of Famitsu that the game accomplished its best-selling feat last Sunday when it ended the day with a unit sales total of 4,001,276.

That Mario would be the man to set a record like this should come as no surprise - New Super Mario Bros. Wii's current worldwide sales are sitting at nearly 17 million.

Wii Sports still dominates with over 65 million worldwide sales. However, New Super Mario Bros. Wii isn't even a year old (December 3 in case you wanted to get Nintendo a card), so we expect it'll hit a few more milestones in the years to come.
