FantasyCon, the annual genre celebration returning to Brighton this year, has added two new special media guests into the mix, adding to the glowing array of established guests of honour. Mark Gatiss, star and co-creator of BBC’s Sherlock , and Robin Hardy, the man behind The Wicker Man , are both set to attend.
Taking place from 27-30 September at the Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton, FantasyCon already promises the attendance of a wealth of top authors and the event anticipates numerous book launches, talks and signings with the likes of Muriel Gray, Joe R Lansdale and Brent Weeks. Taking place in Brighton you might expect a party element to the convention and FantasyCon won't disappoint: with burlesque and the traditional "dead dog" party planned, this event has all areas of entertainment covered.
Article continues belowPanels throughout the weekend mean you can get involved in the key topics in the genre today. Along with interviews and masterclasses, there'll be a screening of The Wicker Tree in honour of Robin Hardy’s attendance.
On the Sunday afternoon the great and the good of fantasy will meet at the annual awards banquet to wine, dine and celebrate the best of fantasy. Categories include Best Comic/Graphic Novel, Best Screenplay and Best Novel; SFX has been honoured with a nomination for Best Magazine/Periodical in the British Fantasy Awards. Thanks folks!
Tickets cost £65 for a weekend membership (£60 if you are a British Fantasy Society Member). There are also limited day tickets for Saturday only at £40 for the day. Tickets do not include the Award Banquet, which is an additional £37. Details at www.fantasycon2012.org .
