LittleBigPlanet 3 being made by Sumo Digital - rumour

Sony and Media Molecule have reportedly farmed out development of the as-yet-unannounced LittleBigPlanet 3 to Sumo Digital.

While the platform holder has declined to comment on the rumour, a source told VG247 that the independent UK-based studio has been working on the project for "well over a year" on unknown platforms.

Sumo Digital was the studio behind last year’s LittleBigPlanet 2 cross controller pack DLC. Other recent additions to its CV include Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Nike+ Kinect Training, while it has also worked on the Virtua Tennis, F1 and OutRun series.

LittleBigPlanet creator Media Molecule has stepped away from the ‘play, create and share’ franchise since the release of the last series entry on PS3 in January 2011. Last year's LittleBigPlanet Vita was developed by Tarsier Studios and Double Eleven, and Media Molecule is thought to be working on multiple new IPs for different platforms. If, as is widely expected, Sony is to reveal PS4 on Wednesday February 20, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company also unveil a new LittleBigPlanet game and a fresh home console title from Media Molecule.
