Kate Beckinsale returning for Underworld 5

The Underworld franchise remains alive and well, with THR reporting that Kate Beckinsale is set to return for the fifth entry in the series, alongside her Underworld: Awakening co-star Theo James.

According to the report, the new film will be scripted by Cory Goodman, and will apparently focus on “a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves”. Don’t worry though… they still hate each other.

The new film will also have a new director, with Anna Foerster set to become the first female director to helm an episode of the franchise. She’s previously worked as Roland Emmerich’s DOP on the likes of The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down so is no stranger to big, brash action…

Production will get underway later this year, with cameras set to begin rolling in Prague in the fall. No release date has been confirmed as yet.
