Independence Day: Resurgence TV spot shows Brent Spiner's doctor back in action

One of the best scenes in the first Independence Day movie saw twitchy doctor Brackish Okun at the mercy of an annoyed extraterrestrial. The alien uses Okun's voice to tell Bill Pullman's Pres that the only thing the alien race wants from humans is for them to "diiie." It's brilliant because it's the creepiest part of the whole film that cemented the fact that these guys aren't even remotely like E.T. But it was widely assumed that Okun perished after being treated like a psychic puppet.

On that note, this latest TV spot for Independence Day: Resurgence gives us a look at the doc twenty years on. As the movie takes place two decades after the first alien invasion, Earth is now fully prepped should another one occur.... which it absolutely does. And, like before, Okun is the bearer of bad news as he informs those in charge that all of the aliens in human captivity aren't wailing in pain... they're making a racket because they're celebrating. Check it out below:

It's a lot lighter on the widespread carnage than earlier trailers and instead focuses in on the human response to the attack. The former President appears to be on the receiving end of a personal encounter this time, as one of the aliens hijacks his vocal cords to warn mankind that "she has arrived." We're going to assume "she" is the alien queen - who's probably in a really bad mood.

Directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Maika Monroe, Jessie Usher, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner and Liam Hemsworth, Independence Day: Resurgence will open in the UK and US on June 24, 2016.
