Tiger Woods' name won't adorn the box of EA's next-gen golf game. The publisher today announced the end of the 16-year series with the professional golfer, and released a side-by-side screenshot showing the visuals players can expect from its new era of PGA games.
The screenshots show the same green in similar conditions, but the next-gen version has more lush foliage, sharper reflections, softer light and shadows, and even a crowd of human onlookers instead of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14's stiff-backed mannequin lurkers.
"EA Sports golf fans have always loved authentic courses and players, but they've also asked for more choice and customization in how and where they play," EA wrote on its news blog. "We're working on a new approach to deliver the best golf experience to our fans."
EA plans to continue to work with PGA, so Tiger Woods will likely still be in the games--he just won't be on the cover.
