As part of the Disney 3D panel at Comic-Con, the official title for the Tron sequel was revealed as Tron Legacy.

With select cast and crew in attendance, including director Joseph Kosinski, Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, the world got its first proper look at the world of this new Tron film.

Given the hi-tech nature of the pic, there was no actual new footage from within the Tron world, though the team had brought along some nifty pics (new light cycle... Yay!) and a 3D version of the teaser that surprised everyone last year.

And as a bonus, we got to see a rough cut of one early scene, set in the real world, which sees Sam Flynn (Hedlund) venturing to his dad's old arcade on the advice of Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner).

Kosinski revealed that the new movie won't be set on the internet, but instead in a version of the Tron universe that has slowly been evolving on a server maintained by Kevin Flynn.

All in all, it was damned impressive despite the lack of new in-world footage... We're excited for this one.

Take a look at the pics below and tell us what you think...

The film's new take on the light cycle.

Kevin Flynn's personal cycle, circa late 1980s, a model between the original and the current versions.
