E3 season is upon us, and that means megaton game announcements are going to start flowing like the mighty Mississippi for the next couple of weeks. The frenzy begins today with the official confirmation that the 3DS is getting a sequel or spinoff to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
Apart from the fact that this news has us jittering with excitement, we don't really know much beyond that. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was a profoundly awesome action game with some of the most ridiculously gorgeous environments we've ever seen in a game. Some people wrote it off as a hack-n-slash God of War clone, but those people missed out on one of the best action games of this generation.
Seen by MyNintendo on NeoGAF, a few details from Nintendo Power's cover story were leaked. According to the cover story, Mirror of Fate will include a deep combat system with controls reminiscent of the console version. The light/shadow system will also return, as will the unlockable combo system of the last game. We'll have to wait for the issue to hit newsstands before we learn more.
Hankering after more of the stories, news and possible truths that might shape this year's E3? Then head over to our E3 rumours compendium page. It's being updated constantly between now and the show.
