Capcom's Yoshinori Ono on leave due to hospitalization

Capcom will have to go on without one of its biggest producers for the forseeable future, as Street Fighter veteran Yoshinori Ono has confirmed he will be taking a break from work to look after his health.

Ono was admitted to hospital care earlier this week due to what Sony described as a “heavily deteriorated” physical state. Today, Ono verified the news to followers, writing, “I'll refrain from work for current job for a while. Another person in charge of SF series for a while. Of course I'll constant support to it.”

In a follow-up tweet, Ono indicated he may be out the game for a while, but he was in good spirits, posting, “I'll be out of the limelight as fighting game series for a while. I'll think about the new future of fighting game after this. ;D”

Yoshinori Ono's last project was Street Fighter X Tekken, which launched earlier this month. Judging by our Street Fighter X Tekken review, it looks like he's leaving Capcom (temporarily) on a high note. We wish him well in his recovery.
