Assassins Creed Syndicates new rope launcher is all about freedom

Navigation has never been a problem for the mostly white-hooded protagonists of the Assassin's Creed series - from fluid free-running to flying machines and wave-riding ships, the Assassin's have remained a fleet-footed bunch. So it seems fitting that the latest entry in the franchise, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, should not only bring a brand new approach to that familiar AC combat, but also add a new dynamic to the way dual heroes Jacob and Evie traverse the street of Victorian London. Say hello to the rope launcher.

In the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine, senior producer François Pelland from Ubisoft Quebec explains the new toy does more than just zip the terrible twins around town - it affects every aspect of the game...

With side-quests also getting an overhaul for Syndicate, here's hoping Ubisoft Quebec's first swing of the main AC bat avoids the pitfalls of last year's stuttering Parisian effort.
