Tim Burton sets up Stainboy tweet story

Tim Burton is best known as a world-ranking auteur, celebrated as much for his visual ingenuity as for his appetite for the tongue-in-cheek macabre.

But he’s also a huge fan of Twitter. How do we know this? He’s started a fun experiment on the social network using old creation Stainboy.

With the help of his fellow Twits, Burton has invited all of his followers to craft a new story for the grimy little fellow – one Tweet at a time.

Stainboy first appeared in 1997 children's book The Melancholy Death Of Oyster Boy & Other Stories , which Burton co-wrote with Michael McDowell. He also cropped up in his own series of shorts in 2000 called The World Of Stainboy .

From now until 6 December, you are in control of Stainboy’s destiny. The best tweets from each day will be used in a continuation of Stainboy’s adventures.

So if you think you’re up to it, head on over to the official website and get scribbling.
