The Rocky Horror Picture Show review

Tim Curry is a drag in the infamous schlocky musical

The spector of drunken office workers doing ‘The Time Warp’ at the Christmas party lingers over Richard O’Brien’s shlock musical, but don’t let that put you off.

Initially a gleeful riff on B-movie horror - young couple seeks shelter in a castle full of monsters on a stormy night - it explodes into a very ’70s, very silly re-imagining of ’50s teen drama, with Tim Curry chewing furniture as transvestite creature-creator Frank N’ Furter.

It’s like art-rockers Roxy Music let loose on Frankenstein - ludicrous, but oddly compelling. And it even stars Meat Loaf.
