Though the Tanooki Suit is getting most of the press for Super Mario 3D Land, as the well-known tail keeps popping up everywhere, the game looks to be a celebration of suit-based power-ups in general, with a recent piece of leaked art confirming a new power will be added to Mario’s arsenal. The info is slim, but we now know Super Mario 3D Land has a Boomerang Mario power-up.

As hard as it is to believe, this is the first time Mario’s had any boomerang moves, unless you count some e-Reader shenanigans with Super Mario Bros 3 on Game Boy Advance. That’s not to say the red-hatted one doesn’t have a rich history of stealing koopa shells, with Mario 3’s Hammer Bros Suit and Shell Mario from New Super Mario Bros. This is looks like a cool addition (though no one knows how it plays), but we wonder if this is the end of new power-ups in 3D Land, or if more secrets await. While you ponder that one, why not look at the 75 new screens for the game we just received?
