Carrie Fisher has never been one to shy away from saying what she really thinks about Star Wars, and when you combine that frankness with her acerbic wit then it's small wonder why her interviews are often entertaining. Case in point, while she was speaking at the Saskatoon Comic & Entertainment Expo (via Collider), Fisher had this to say on why Han Solo's and Leia Organa's marriage didn't work out:
"He smuggled way too much. And girls, I know you don’t want your husband smuggling, do you? [And] hanging out with the hairy guy too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that. He wouldn’t take me on that hyperspace thing enough… [that’s a] euphemism".

Fisher is obviously trying to be funny with her comments here (and she absolutely succeeds in doing so), and it's unlikely that future Star Wars films will ever give us the details on what happened to Han and Leia's marriage between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
It's likely that their break-up had an impact on the super emo Kylo Ren though, and a scene between Adam Driver's villain and Fisher's Leia has the potential to be very powerful. Here's hoping we get to see exactly that when Star Wars 8 arrives in cinemas next year.
Directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Benicio del Toro, Star Wars: Episode 8 opens in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
