With a CV boasting Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012 and now Presidential-explodathon White House Down , it's clear that Roland Emmerich is a director who knows his KABOOM from his KABLOOM.
So we challenged him to the ultimate (well, amateur-ly put together) test.
Could he guess the movie purely from the explosion?
Total Film: Ok, so we'll start with an easy one.
Roland Emmerich: Erm, Independence Day.
TF: Hurrah! Correct!
RE: Oh, that was surprisingly easy.
RE : That is, I think Terminator 2 . It's the atomic explosion, right?
RE: *puzzled look*
RE: *confused look*
TF: We can give you a clue if you want?
RE: Is this Die Hard 2 ?
TF: Nope - the clue's in the vehicles.
RE: Oh! It's Speed !
RE: Hmm. That is....
TF: We'll give you a clue. Think late 80s.
RE: Oh! It's Ghostbusters !
RE: That's definitely Forrest Gump.
TF: You're annoyingly good at this.
RE: Hmm. I think this is a movie I haven't seen before. Is that Bruce Willis at the front?
TF: Nope, it's John Malkovich.
RE: Erm, Con Air ?
TF: The clue is in the clothes.
RE: Oh that’s, errr, Bugsy , no, I forget the name, Dick Tracy ?
TF: Nope. It’s... The Untouchables.
White House Down
RE: That's White House Down !
RE: Armageddon !
RE: Hmm. That's one of mine - it's 2012, right?
