Now that Halo seems to be back lurking in development hell (though Microsoft is apparently touting the script around the studios again in the wake of Halo 3’s massive take), Peter Jackson clearly still wants to make sure director Neill Blomkamp’s career gets launched properly.
He’s agreed to produce District 9, a live-action sci fi script that Blomkamp has written with his partner, Terri Tatchell. There’s no word on plot details yet – though apparently those ponying up rights to buy the movie for distribution will get a taste at the American Film Market today – but we do know that Blomkamp will shoot in South Africa and Weta (natch) will handle the effects.
"For the last year, my team and I have had the pleasure of working very closely with Neill," Jackson told Variety. "He has a passion and a command of the language of cinema that will result in District 9 fascinating people all over the world." Now tell the rest of us what it’s about!
