Everyone has some hidden heartache in this slick Italian family-in-crisis dramedy, not least aspiring novelist Tommaso (Riccardo Scamarcio), who’s planning to come out to his traditionalist parents.

But then his thunder’s stolen by elder bro Antonio (Alessandro Preziosi), prompting dad to have a heart attack and lumbering Tommaso with the family pasta factory.

Writer/director Ferzan Ozpetek could have trimmed some of the sub-plots, but it’s broadly amusing (especially when our hero’s camp pals pitch up) and the performances are as warm as the southern setting.
