David Bowie, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi - singers treading the boards and learning lines can lead to some serious bum-notes. One such soulful sweetheart who is gaining a credible reputation for herself is Alicia Keys.
Keys has recently wrapped on Smokin’ Aces, Joe Carnahan’s star-packed Las Vegas action/comedy about a formerly mobbed-up snitch - where she got to sharpen her craft alongside the likes of Jeremy Piven, Don Cheadle and Ben Affleck.
Next on the agenda for the warbler-turned-thesp is The Nanny Diaries. We gave you the nod a good while back about Scarlett Johansson leaping aboard this dramedy that tells the tale of a working-class Jersey girl who ends up as a nanny for a cash-happy Manhattan family.
Keys has scribbled on the dotted line to star as Johansson’s best buddy for directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, who will start shooting this month in New York.
The flick is based on the popular novel of the same name by Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin and is also set to star Paul Giamatti, Chris Evans and Laura Linney.
