Holiday Buyer's Guide 2006

It's that magical time of the year again. Time for family and togetherness. Time for snow and twinkling lights. Time for cookies, candy canes and that barely liquefied nightmare we call egg nog. But, most importantly, time for school vacation, paid days off and a whole bag of new games to play while gathered around the comforting and crackling warmth of our television sets. Yes, it's what the holiday season is all about and we're here to help you make the most of it.

But with a whopping seven systems in full swing this year - including PC but not the all-but-dead Xbox and GameCube - how's a potential player supposed to choose? What if you're just shopping for the player and don't know the first thing about FPS, RTS, GTA, PvP or HD-DVD?

We could just take our top-rated games and slap them together into a half-baked list... but there were a lot of great games and we'd rather make real recommendations. Instead, we've identified four types of gamer for each system and picked just one perfect game for that person. So if you really know your recipient- or at least yourself - we just finished your shopping list for you. You're welcome.

Day One -Xbox 360
Day Two -PC
Day Three -DS,PSP
Day Four -Wii
Day Five -PS2,PS3
