Don't get too excited over Nintendo's mysterious "Nintendo Switch 2: Wii Remote" page – it's probably just a glitch, with the same controller also listed for the long-dead 3DS

Nintendo has filled fans with some seemingly false hope of a Switch 2 and Wii crossover (or, perhaps just me) after posting an official support page for an accessory that doesn't exist – the "Nintendo Switch 2: Wii Remote."
If you're anything like me, then you have fond memories of the Wii. Standing as one of the most successful (and nostalgia-inducing) Nintendo consoles to date, it's hard not to love the platform that brought us gems like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and, of course, the ever-legendary Wii Sports.
So, it's unsurprising that some sort of comeback via the new Switch 2 wouldn't exactly be unwelcome – but it's probably not happening, at least, not right now.
Yes, an official support page on Nintendo's website has gone up for the currently nonexistent Switch 2: Wii Remote. However, when you actually attempt to click on any of the links for said "Wii Remote," you're redirected to the Nintendo Repair Center and not a specific sublink with details about the accessory.
just about lost it when someone posted this link to a "Nintendo Switch 2: Wii Remote" support article https://t.co/WuAYObecPGlooks like Nintendo's support article database is having a bad day as several pages are goofed pic.twitter.com/0xK6KwjfBLFebruary 6, 2026
That's not all, either. There also appears to be another Wii Remote page floating about… for the *checks notes* 3DS?
The "Nintendo 3DS: Wii Remote" is apparently a thing, too, which further solidifies that this is likely all an error or glitch on the company's side with its website. But, nonetheless, fans are going with it – and I love it.
On a post about the strange pages, someone comments, "Wii coming to NSO confirmed?" Someone else chimes in, "Hey, I would have no problem with it if they made them compatible." Same, anon. Same.

Other replies see folks in complete disbelief that this whole "Wii Remote" thing is real – which, yeah, it almost certainly isn't. "This doesn't mean anything," as one person points out. "They're just having problems with the website."
It would be nice, though, wouldn't it? A bit of throwback Thursday chaos (except on Friday, I guess), and with a little resurrection of offline consoles like the Wii and 3DS thrown in… sign me up.
Need something to wishlist? Here are some of the most exciting upcoming Switch 2 games to look forward to, if so.

After spending years with her head in various fantastical realms' clouds, Anna studied English Literature and then Medieval History at the University of Edinburgh, going on to specialize in narrative design and video game journalism as a writer. She has written for various publications since her postgraduate studies, including Dexerto, Fanbyte, GameSpot, IGN, PCGamesN, and more. When she's not frantically trying to form words into coherent sentences, she's probably daydreaming about becoming a fairy druid and befriending every animal or she's spending a thousand (more) hours traversing the Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3. If you spot her away from her PC, you'll always find Anna with a fantasy book, a handheld video game console of some sort, and a Tamagotchi or two on hand.
