Well, it was exciting while it lasted, wasn’t it? Despite the recent flurry of stories linking him to a major Warner / DC project, George Miller has comprehensively confirmed that he will not be directing Man Of Steel 2, telling Digital Spy that the rumours were just that… rumours.
Indeed, having just come off the back of a huge-scale production with Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller is actually looking for something a little more sedate for his next project. “I hope the next film I make is a very small film without any special effects and not many stunts,” said the director. And to be fair to him, a Superman movie doesn’t really fit that brief…
The news probably shouldn’t come as a total surprise, with Zack Snyder recently suggesting that Batman v Superman will be a kind of sequel to Man Of Steel after all. Whether Warner is planning to push forward with another dedicated Superman movie remains to be seen, but for now at least, it doesn’t look like it will be happening with Miller at the helm.
