Following the news that Resident Evil Requiem has leaked online, Resident Evil 2 director and internet sassy bad boy, Hideki Kamiya, reminisces about a similar experience with his entry before saying that he hopes they "die ten thousand deaths."
In a Twitter post translated by GamesRadar+, he relates having a similar experience while developing the series' second entry. "Towards the end of development on Resident Evil 2, I'm sure there were some leaks that were exposed in a weekly magazine," he says.
He goes on to talk about all of the people these leaks affect, for what is ultimately very little gain even for the leakers themselves. "Trampling on the feelings of the people who are looking forward to the game, and the creatives who worked so hard to make it," he describes. "Destroying everyone's joy, just for these assholes' self-gratification."
Kamiya ends the tweet by passing down judgement on the people who are posting videos of Resident Evil Requiem online. "Should you commit these contemptible acts, you deserve to die ten thousand deaths," he says, before perhaps having a mild change of heart, and suggesting a softer punishment. "I pray they are cursed to never play the game again…"
Kamiya is known for his brash attitude on Twitter, and will often block people who attempt to reach out to him on the app. While he's well known for his straightforward attitude online, he's much more reserved in in-person interviews.
