The Nintendo Switch Super Mario Galaxy collection just got its first ever discount ahead of Black Friday
This Super Mario Galaxy deal is small but stellar
Nintendo dropped a physical release of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Nintendo Switch last month, and I was over the moon. Not only is the first game a childhood classic for me, but this release marked the first time its sequel has escaped from its Wii-shaped prison, which made it the easiest day-one purchase.
In hindsight, I wish I hadn't been that eager, as the collection of Galaxy games is now $61.75 at Best Buy, its lowest ever price since it launched on October 2, 2025. That's a saving of $8.24, which isn't a lot when you stack it up against the influx of early Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals, but it's still a dazzling discount when you consider that it normally takes far longer for new releases to see any savings at all. Now, if only the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy amiibo would get a discount, too.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Switch) | $69.99 $61.75 at Best Buy
Save $8.24 - Nintendo launched a physical collection of both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Switch just last month, and it's now received its first-ever discount ahead of Black Friday. Right now, you can save $8.24 off the set of two games, which is also fully compatible with the Switch 2 - this is the perfect deal to get in the mood for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie.
Should you buy Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Switch?
This physical Nintendo Switch game collection was a sight for sore eyes when it was originally unveiled during the Nintendo Direct held on September 12, 2025. The first Super Mario Galaxy game was one of my favorite titles of the Nintendo Wii console era, and that's not just because my name bears a striking resemblance to that of Princess Rosalina's.
What makes this collection extra special is not because it contains Super Mario Galaxy (as you can play that via Super Mario 3D All-Stars), but because it also contains Super Mario Galaxy 2. If you missed out on its sequel and don't have access to a Wii, grabbing this deal is a no-brainer. This release marks the only instance of it launching on a Nintendo console out than the Wii, and it's compatible on both the original Switch family of systems and the Switch 2, making it more accessible than ever before.
As someone brand new to the sequel, it was amazing to experience for the first time. Sure, I could grab an original copy of it on second-hand sites for around $30, but the ability to play it portably in handheld mode is an absolute treat. Not to mention, I have a feeling that eventually this collection may be difficult to find at a good price like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, so this was a release I wanted to make sure I owned physically sooner rather than later.
If you're new to Super Mario Galaxy 2 or even the Galaxy games as a whole, this collection is a must-buy even without this early Black Friday saving. Better yet, the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie is partially based on these games, making it a perfect time to dive in if you want to get caught up on any lore or easter eggs Nintendo will likely have planned for its upcoming film sequel.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
