Adapt or die on dynamic battlefields while capturing biocores in dystopian PvPvE shooter Ascendant

Set in a post-apocalyptic future that's dripping with 1980s flair, you're going to need both brawn and brains to defeat rival squads across an ever-changing environment in this tactical FPS. As exclusively revealed during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, we now know that Ascendant will be emerging from stasis to release in 2025.

After awakening from a thousand-year cryogenic sleep, players find themselves in a dystopian world where resources are scarce, wildlife has significantly mutated, and everyone is competing for biocores filled with precious amber to sustain them. Four teams of three fighters head into each confrontation, but with only three biocores available not everyone can escape with the goods.

No two battles will be alike as the map is procedurally evolving, meaning the layout of the structures and locations of the biocores is constantly shifting. As well as dealing with other squads, you'll also have to contend with unpredictable events such as toxic gas clouds, airstrikes, and giant monster attacks, so you'll need to stick to game's "adapt or die" mantra if you want to succeed.

Customization is at the heart of the Ascendant experience, and you can completely personalize your character's appearance from hundreds of options to create a wild '80s inspired retro look. However, those choices pale in comparison to the weapon customization, where over 3 million mod combinations mean you can merge and create everything from a poison-shooting SMG to a grenade-launching sniper rifle! No matter how you prepare, one thing's for sure – when you head into the fight, you'd better bring backup.

Ascendant is launching on PC in 2025, but you can wishlist it now on Steam and join the official Discord to stay up to date with all of the latest news.
