Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms is a sequel to the multi-award-winning Metroidvania Greak: Memories of Azur, bringing back its beautiful hand-drawn art, open-world puzzling, and cast of characters with unique abilities. An all-new Future Games Show trailer has given us a first glimpse of Greak 2, and its new co-op multiplayer twist.
While the original game was a single-player adventure that saw you switching between its cast to utilise their skills and powers, Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms adds a co-operative mode to its metroidvania challenge. You can still play in the classic single-player mode, where you switch between the two characters on the fly, but now there's a local or online co-op mode where you and a friend can take on the dangers ahead.
This time the story sees Greak and Adara travelling through parallel dimensions to a new world called Synoraz, after fleeing their homeland. With a new location, split in two by a ruthless sorcerer, you and a friend must combine their abilities to battle enemies and bosses, and solve a range of interconnected environmental puzzles. All while befriending the mysterious Storm Eagles to save the last Storm Egg, before this ancient species is lost forever.
As you explore each area, you and a friend will be able to work together by interacting with objects imbued with your special aura to progress as you solve environmental puzzles. You'll be able to upgrade and develop each character's skill trees as you explore seven distinct biomes in a fully interconnected world. This teamwork extends to combat as well, as not only will you be fighting side by side to take down bosses and monsters, but you'll also be unlocking and mastering synergetic powers to overcome the dangers ahead.
