Bye Bye Bonnie is an adorable cartoon co-op game about animals playing golf with a mechanical skull through a dystopian wasteland
What, that doesn't make sense to you?
Co-op cartoon adventure golf game Bye Bye Bonnie just got its debut trailer, and it's the strangest, most endearing looking thing we've seen in a while. Revealed for the first time as part of the Future Games Show and developed by Brainwash Gang, the trailer shows off a couple of cute animal critters using platforming, golf gameplay and physics to knock a giant robotic skull around a ruined world.
Don't worry, there is at least some context for this. Promotional material for Bye Bye Bonnie reveals that Bonnie is, in fact, the aforementioned mechanical skull, which serves as a mobile home and base for the animal heroes. Searching for their missing mother and siblings through a ruined world, all signs point towards some kind of strange tower on the horizon. The players will therefore have to work together to steer Bonnie through this ruined world and past various obstacles and challenges.
A mention has to be made of Bye Bye Bonnie's artwork, which stands out even in an industry full of great-looking indie games. It's an evocative, hand-drawn cartoon style with clear pencil shading and expressive characters, somewhere between Cult of the Lamb, Night in the Woods, and Ori and the Blind Forest.
Bye Bye Bonnie doesn't have a release window yet, but a closed beta on Steam is planned in the wake of this trailer announcement. For more info, make sure you follow the developers via their social media on X.
