Fight back against a thousand years of supernatural threats in action RPG Sword Sage: Awakening
Do you have what it takes to master the ancient techniques of combat and become the Sword Sage?
Sword Sage: Awakening is an action RPG set in a fantastical world of Chinese myth and folklore, trapped under the shadow of a disaster that took place a millennium ago. Following a previously released cinematic introduction, we got a first proper look at some of the gameplay features in the latest trailer shown during the Future Games Show at gamescom.
A thousand years in the past, the drunken Supreme White Gibbon Sage opened the forbidden texts and leaked their contents, which unleashed natural disasters and spawned monstrous Yaoguai across the land of Guannandao. As Pei Sanniang, a young disciple of the Yuangong Sect, you must master the art of ancient Chinese swordsmanship so you can fight back against these horrifying creatures and restore order.
The key to victory is learning the secret technique of "Evade Cyan, Strike Red", using fluid movement to dodge the attacks of your enemies before striking back with fury to deal maximum damage. By learning new skills and unlocking powerful weapons to wield, you can take on greater foes as you try to shed the inherited burden of a thousand years.
This journey isn't just about combat though, as you also get to explore a beautiful Xianxian world full of character, while attempting to unravel the mysteries of Zhiguai folklore. Meet up with your adorable red panda sidekick at benches to perform elaborate tea ceremonies, where you can rest and restore your health before moving on to the next fight.
Sword Sage Awakening is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X – and while a release date hasn't been confirmed yet, you can wishlist it on Steam, follow the game on X, or join the official Discord to receive the latest news from the developer.
